Join Chef Brian Fowke as he shows you what its like to be Chef For a Day, from planning the menu, to shopping for ingredients, preparing the meal and then sitting down and enjoying the benefits of your hard work. This is a hands-on class that is sure to be a day to remember!
Have you ever wondered what the life of a chef is like? Here’s your chance. With Edible BC’s popular Chef for a Day program you can enjoy a day learning the secrets and tricks of the trade from one of Vancouver’s top chef talents. Brian Fowke is the former Chef/Owner of Vancouver lauded Rare and Metro Restaurants, as well as Mon Bella Bistoria.
You will start out by meeting Chef Fowke at Granville Island Public Market, the heart of our culinary city, where you will plan your seasonal, local menu together as a group (maximum of 8 people per class). You will learn the ins and outs of buying market fresh – chef style – and pick up everything you need for the day’s menu.
Once the ingredients have been gathered, you’ll head to nearby Mon Bella Bistoria for an interactive cooking lesson in a professional working kitchen. Chef Fowke will lead you and the group in the preparation of a multicourse meal together, using the ingredients you’ve just purchased at the market. Once the meal has been prepared, you will sit down to enjoy the meal together as a group – family style – and discuss what you learned while enjoying a couple of glasses of fantastic BC wine.
As each class will be different, and the recipes will be created dependant upon the day’s finds at the market, you’re welcome to bring a notebook, pen, camera and anything else to help you remember your experience. After each class, we will email you a complete set of recipes for you to recreate your dishes at home.

• 1.5 Hour shopping trip with Chef Brian Fowke at Granville Island Public Market (including tasting samples)
• A hands-on cooking class in a working professional kitchen at Mon Bella Bistoria
• A multicourse lunch (which you will prepare with Chef Fowke) served at the restaurant
• Wine with lunch
• Maximum of 8 people to ensure the most hands-on time and personal attention
PRIVATE SESSIONS ARE AVAILABLE:
This includes a private shopping trip, menu design, hands-on cooking class, as well as a multicourse meal with wine at the end of the class. Arrangements can also be made where others can come and dine with you and enjoy the meal that you have prepared for an additional fee. Please note these prices may change depending on your venue – email us for details.
Please Note – All bookings are final and are non-refundable, however your tickets are transferable to another person. A minimum of 4 people are required to run this class, so if we have less than 4 people booked for a specific weekend, we may have to move you to a different weekend, or offer you a refund.
