Commercial Drive Market Experience

Saturday's at 8:30am

Traditional and trendy mix in this culturally diverse neighborhood centered on Commercial Drive between Venables and Grandview. Utne Reader chose The Drive as one of North America’s hippest neighborhoods, and local Georgia Straight readers consistently vote it one of the city’s best neighborhoods. The Drive’s European heritage lingers in coffee bars, delis and bakeries.

Edible British Columbia is excited by the opportunity to guide both locals and visitors around one of Vancouver’s most authentic culinary tourist attractions and offer them a personal insight into the city’s Italian culture. The tour is led by local chefs including Dora Ho (Culinary Arts Instructor and Caterer), Dana Reinhardt of Cru Restaurant, Julie Marr (ex-Lumiere), and Edible B.C.'s own Eric Pateman.

With everything from fresh buffalo mozzarella and free-range poultry to Italian specialties such as olive oil and vinegars, Commercial Drive is your one stop shop.

  • The city’s best deli with amazing sandwiches and a world-class selection of olive oils.
  • An Italian bakery—who can resist!
  • A local farmer's market where you can sample right from the farm (when in season)!

Tour Guides:

Dora Ho is local chef and culinary arts instructor who also owns her own catering company. Dora speaks fluent Cantonese and lives just off Commercial Drive so she will be able to offer her local knowledge on both of these tours

Eric Pateman is the president and founder of Edible BC, and is a locally trained chef. Eric's passion for food has taken him to all the corners of the earth, but BC is his home and he loves to share its secrets with locals and visitors alike.
