Chef for a Day

 

Enjoy a day learning the secrets and tricks of the trade from one of Vancouver’s top rated chefs!

 

Start the day by meeting at the Rare Restaurant (or whatever venue is chosen for the day) where you will start with a cup of outstanding coffee and fresh squeezed orange juice while you plan the menu as a group. Next, you will be off to shop at Granville Island Public Market, where you will pick up everything you need for the day and learn to "Shop like a Chef"!

 

You’ll stroll through the market where your guest chef will answer any questions you may have about the ingredients their selecting and any other food related questions you may have. The Chef will also discuss why certain items have been chosen and why one type of ingredient is better than another. The shopping trip will last between one and one and a half hours.

 

Once the ingredients have been gathered, you'll head back to the restaurant for an interactive cooking lesson where the Chef and you will prepare a multi-course meal using the ingredients purchased at the market.

$140 CDN per person + GST

 

Price Includes:

  • Menu design based on the wishes of the group
  • 1.5 Hour shopping trip with a chef
  • A hands-on cooking class in a professional kitchen
  • A multi-course lunch (which you will prepare with the chef) served in the kitchen
  • Wine pairings for each course
  • Maximum of 6 people to ensure the most hands-on time and personal attention

 

PRIVATE SESSIONS ARE AVAILABLE:

Single: $500

2 People: $ 250 pp

3 People: $200 pp

4 People: $175 pp

5/6 People: $140 pp

This includes a private shopping trip, menu design, hands-on learning behind the line of a real kitchen, as well as a multi-course meal with wine pairings at the end of the class. (Arrangements can also be made where others can come and dine with you and enjoy the meal that you have prepared - this will incur an extra cost).

Please Note - All bookings are final and are non-refundable, however your tickets are transferable to another person.

 

The emphasis of this day is on local, seasonal ingredients so be prepared to savour some of the best BC has to offer including seafood, meat, produce, fruit, artisan cheeses and more.

Ask questions, work along side a professional chef and learn valuable tips and techniques. After the chef and you work your magic, you’ll dine in the kitchen while enjoying a flavorful, meal accompanied by wines, specially chosen to match each course.

At the end of the day, you will have a better understanding of what it is like to be a "Chef for a Day"!
