ELIXIR GETS INTO THE SPIRIT FOR BASTILLE DAY

A lot of wine dinners/special events/promotional menus cross my desk, but this one really made me smile – and really want to be there!  In celebration of Bastille Day on Tuesday July 14th, Elixir will feature a special six course menu for $70 per person (!!!).  C’est brilliant!  Je t’adore! 

 

In the Spirit of Freedom and Revolution
the revolting peasants and serfs gather to a Champagne-Punch-Up style Reception and to plot “7pm”
Blasons de Bourgogne, Cremant de Bourgogne NV 

7:30pm The Revolution Commences
An Amuse Bouche is served
“Soft Boiled Quails Egg Tartlet with Truffle Sabayon”
In the spirit of the times, no bread is served, only clever conspiratorial conversation
Washed down by Duval-Leroy Champagne Brut NV

“To Sooth the Masses”
A First Course
Wild Sockeye Ballontine with Asparagus, Salmon Caviar and Crème Fraîche
Served with La Chablisienne St Bris 2007 seized from the lofty fridge of a Yaletown Aristocrat

The People want more!
A Second Course of
Spot prawn stuffed Zucchini Flower, Caramelized sweet breads, fava bean puree
and Wine seized from the La Buxynoise 2005, Mercurey, Burgundy Soothes the Palate in Revolt

“To the Meat of the Matter”
Braised Pork Cheeks, wilted spinach, sautéed wild mushrooms
With all the bakers seemingly imprisoned, the butchers work overtime.
Merlot is seized from the traitor Buzet in 2003, to calm the crowd

At Long Last
Les Amis du Fromage ~ Selection of cheeses
Fruit Wines from the Armand & Fils Chateau La Rame 2003 Sainte- Croix-du -Mont
 ”Sedate the savage Stinky Cheese”

“Let Them Eat Cake”
(or bits of it)
Petit Fours with Coffee
