If you have time to make it over to the Island in the coming months, be sure to plan some time in the Cowichan Valley. This amazing valley is home to some of BC’s most exciting culinary adventures. Chef and author Bill Jones now calls this part of the province home (along with many other notable chefs including James Barber and Mara Jernigan) and he has just released his 2007 summer cooking schedule.

Events at Deerholme Farm feel like you are at a friends for dinner with only six guests per event. With his specialty in local ingredients (especially interesting are his mushroom classes), be sure to reserve early for these courses as they will sell out quickly.

Make a weekend of it and visit many of the fabulous places in the valley including Fairburn Farm, Venturi Schulze vinegary/vineyard and many of the wineries which are also sprouting up in the region.
